Tooth Extraction

When a tooth is broken down, dead or dying it can be taken out. If the tooth is causing an infection or pain patients may decide to have it removed. A tooth can be extracted simply or surgically depending what is required to get it out. Most extractions are done in office with local anaesthetic.
Wisdom teeth extractions can be in office or referred to a specialist and be done under sedation or general anaesthesia. Difficult extractions are usually referred to an oral surgeon.

If you are concerned or worried about having to have teeth extracted or pulled out speaking to a dental professional about current treatment options makes the most sense. Waiting until the pain or infection gets worse usually makes treatment options limited. It can become more difficult to provide treatment and numb the area when an infection is present.
